Billing & Insurance

Either you or your doctor has chosen Specialized Pathology Laboratories as his/her lab of choice to render a diagnosis on your tissue sample. At SPL your tissue sample will be read by board certified, highly trained sub-specialists with expertise in particular tissue sample, so you will receive the best possible in medical care.

Specialized Pathology Laboratories seeks to be a participating provider for all of the major health plans including Medicare and Medicaid. At Specialized pathology Laboratories, we make every effort to become an in-network provider, SPL reduces the cost of healthcare to patients and their employers and also provides a level of quality and service not found anywhere else. However, in some instances health insurances are not open for enrollment. If SPL is out-of-network with your insurer, SPL will bill them for pathology services as an out-of-network provider.  You will receive a bill for only the amount of your customary “in-network” co-pay.

PPO & POS Insurances
Specialized Pathology laboratories will directly bill your insurance carrier. You will be billed only for applicable co-payments and deductibles. If your plan is not contracted with us, SPL accepts the plan as allowable in full.

Medicare and Medicaid
Specialized Pathology Laboratories accept Medicare and Medicaid and accept 100% of monies allocated from this insurance as a payment in full. You will be billed for co-payments and deductibles as required by Federal laws.

Cash paying and IPA patients
Specialized Pathology Laboratories offers discounted fee for cash paying patients. We will do our best to make your payment as convenient as possible. For your convenience we accept a variety of payment options that include but not limited to: all major credit cards (VISA, Master card, American express, Discover Card), money orders and personal checks etc.  The IPA may pre-authorize service on a fee for service arrangement, please contact your IPA for such authorization.

Specialized Pathology Laboratories is responsible for billing of you pathology services and your physician office is not privy
to specific information about your pathology services bill.

Specialized Pathology Laboratories is committed to make your experience with us as easy as possible and more convenient. Our expert billing team will be more than happy to provide assistance with questions you may have regarding your bill. 
We will work with you and your insurer as needed and ensure you are receiving an optimal health care.

Patients that provide us with all of the pertinent information may direct us to file a claim with their insurance company
for services rendered. However, this process is dependent on the type of insurance the patient has and the type
of services they received.
